Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Generation

Nest Labs is a tech corporation with a pedigreed history.  The company was co-founded by Apple engineers Tony Fadell and Matt Rogers with a focus on clean lines, convenience, and carbon reduction.  Since its 2010 inception, the company has grown exponentially, receiving high praise from tech mags like Wired and consumer rating sites. The Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Generation) is currently their flagship product and is one of the most expandable and innovative smart thermostat products on the market today. It is an incredible product that is deserving of a more detailed review. It is currently being rated on most sites as a 4.5-5 Star product and here’s why:

Easy to Install

The Nest Learning Thermostat is widely touted as being the easiest smart thermostat to install. By most accounts, the product can be installed by the average home DIY in twenty minutes or less.  The product comes with walk-through videos and directions that make it an extremely easy set up.  It even comes with its own screwdriver.

It doesn’t require a C Wire

Here is one of its standout features. Most of the programmable and smart thermostats require a C wire. The Nest does not. It has its own built-in chargeable battery. The only downside to this is that it sometimes requires a lengthy charge, but that is not everyone’s experience.

System Match Test

While we’re still discussing the installation of the Nest, one of the features that many consumers have brought up in reviews is the System Match Test that lets the person installing the thermostat know right away if it is compatible with the existing wiring.
And if that’s not all it also comes in with a built-in level.  How’s that for convenience?

It programs itself

The Nest is capable of learning and will begin to self-program according to your habits and preferences. It is also capable of interacting with your other Smart Home products and technology assistants to learn more about the settings that you prefer so that you can have them preset for you.

Not just a thermostat

The Nest Thermostat E works with other Nest products to create a Smart Home system that can detect movement, changes in temperature and humidity, and alert you of unexpected changes or dangers in your environment.

Part of a suite

People aren’t buying just a smart home thermostat. These devices are being part of a buildable and cohesive suite of products. The Nest suite contains smoke detectors, security cameras, and systems, lighting, as well as, heating and cooling products. If the end goal is convenience than Nest is the brand for that.

Built to integrate with technology partners

The nest was built to integrate with technology partners. That is why its entire suite of products operates seamlessly within Amazon Alexa (& Echo) system, Google Home, August Smart Lock, and Siri. It was designed to be a control center for the home and to that end is able to connect wirelessly with other devices to create a “total ecosystem.”

Works with just about everything

How many other smart thermostats work with radiant heaters? Right away, Nest is ahead of the pack. Not only does it work with modern heating units, but it also interacts with heat pumps, dual fuel, and radiant heaters to control the temperature in the home and various humidifiers/dehumidifiers to control the in-house climate.

Aesthetically pleasing

Most of the consumer opinion when it comes to the round shape and use of color is positive. People feel that it blends in nicely with the modern home and looks “futuristic”.

This is a product for all seasons. Literally.

The Nest Thermostat is a top of the line product that is more than capable of helping you to control the climate of the home. It out-performs 99% of its competition and gives homeowners a bundle that allows them to save on heating and cooling costs, system maintenance, and create the type of environment they want for that hour and season. These thermostats have geofencing (it understands by the distance between the device and phone if you have left the home), degree sensitivity that will get the home to the exact temperature you desire and willpower between energy stages to make certain that your home is as warm or cool as you want it.
